Yana Poplavskaya Accuses Lady Gaga of Plagiarism in Red Cap Song
Russian actress Yana Poplavskaya has accused Lady Gaga of plagiarizing a song from the Soviet film "Red Cap".
Poplavskaya, who starred in the 1977 film, claims that Gaga's song "Million Reasons" bears striking similarities to the film's theme song, "Song of the Red Cap".
In a Facebook post, Poplavskaya wrote that she was "shocked" to hear Gaga's song and that she believes Gaga "stole" the melody.
Poplavskaya's accusations come just days after Gaga released "Million Reasons" as the lead single from her upcoming album, "Joanne".
The song has been met with positive reviews from critics, but Poplavskaya is not the only one who has noticed the similarities between "Million Reasons" and "Song of the Red Cap".
Several music critics have also pointed out the similarities, and some have even accused Gaga of plagiarism.
Gaga has not yet responded to Poplavskaya's accusations.
However, it is worth noting that the melody of "Song of the Red Cap" is based on a traditional Russian folk song.
It is possible that Gaga was inspired by the folk song when writing "Million Reasons".
If Gaga did plagiarize "Song of the Red Cap", it would not be the first time she has been accused of stealing music.
In 2014, she was accused of plagiarizing the melody of her song "Born This Way" from Madonna's song "Express Yourself".
The case was eventually settled out of court.
It is too early to say whether Poplavskaya's accusations against Gaga will result in a lawsuit.
However, the similarities between "Million Reasons" and "Song of the Red Cap" are undeniable.
Only time will tell if Gaga will be able to clear her name of these plagiarism allegations.
