Russian Man Killed When Quarry Truck Crushes SUV

Preliminary reports indicate that the victims failed to yield
A Komatsu quarry truck crushed an SUV in the Urals, killing the driver and passenger, preliminary reports from the scene indicated.
The accident occurred on an access road to a quarry located near the village of Verkhnyaya Pyshma, approximately 12 kilometers northeast of Yekaterinburg. The specific cause of the accident is still under investigation by local traffic police investigators.
According to an eyewitness, the driver appeared to fail to yield to the quarry truck as both vehicles approached an intersection on the quarry access road. The quarry truck was unable to stop in time and struck the SUV broadside, crushing it.
Paramedics pronounced the driver and passenger of the SUV dead at the scene.
The driver of the quarry truck was taken to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution and was released. No charges have been filed at this time.
