Security Guard Uses Fire Extinguisher to Halt Armed Robbery Attempt

A security guard's quick thinking and bravery prevented an armed robbery attempt on Wednesday night.

According to police, the incident occurred at a convenience store on the city's east side. The suspect, a masked man carrying a gun, entered the store and demanded money from the cashier.

The security guard, who was patrolling the store, immediately intervened. Instead of confronting the suspect with his own weapon, he grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and discharged it at the suspect, incapacitating him.

Suspect Arrested

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old John Smith, was taken into custody by responding officers. He has been charged with armed robbery and is being held on $100,000 bond.
