Ramzan Kadyrov Says a Drone Attacked Special Forces University in Chechnya
Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, said a drone attacked a special forces university in the region on Friday.
The attack did not cause any casualties or damage, according to Kadyrov.
Kadyrov said in a Telegram post that the drone was destroyed by the university's air defense systems. He also said that the attack was carried out by Ukrainian saboteurs who had crossed into Chechnya from neighboring Ukraine.
There was no immediate comment from Ukraine on Kadyrov's claim. Ukrainian officials have previously denied carrying out attacks in Russia.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Russia has been accused of massing troops on the border with Ukraine, and the United States has warned that Russia may be planning to invade.
Chechnya is a republic in southern Russia. It has been the scene of two separatist wars since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Kadyrov, a former rebel commander, has been the head of Chechnya since 2007.
