Marc Márquez to Miss Thailand Grand Prix After Suffering Concussion
MotoGP Champion Injured in Warm-Up Crash
Márquez's Absence Opens Up Championship Race
Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Márquez will miss this weekend's Thailand Grand Prix after suffering a concussion in a warm-up crash on Saturday morning.
The Repsol Honda rider was taken to a local hospital for examination after the incident, where he was diagnosed with a concussion and ruled unfit to race.
Márquez's absence is a major blow to his title defense, as he currently trails championship leader Fabio Quartararo by 92 points in the standings.
The Spaniard had been in good form in recent races, winning the previous two rounds in Austria and San Marino.
However, his crash in Thailand has now put his title hopes in jeopardy.
In Márquez's absence, Quartararo will be the clear favorite to win the Thailand Grand Prix and extend his lead in the championship.
The Frenchman has been in excellent form all season and will be looking to take advantage of Márquez's misfortune.
Other riders who could challenge for the win include Francesco Bagnaia, Jack Miller, and Aleix Espargaró.
The Thailand Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, October 2, at the Chang International Circuit.
