39-year-old Guzel Khairullina was arrested after her husband, vice-mayor of Kazan Razil Khairullin, accused her of extortion.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan, “Khayrullin’s wife extorted 500 thousand rubles from a businessman. The woman called the businessman and demanded money, threatening to spread compromising information about him.”

Guzel Khairullina responded to the accusation by saying the conversation with the businessman was recorded on video. The video clearly shows that the conversation was not about extortion. The woman said the vice-mayor is lying and that she will file a counterclaim, the publication of compromising evidence regarding her husband.

“I have evidence that my husband is taking bribes. I told him that I will go to the FSB with this evidence if he does not divorce me peacefully, and I think that he misunderstood this moment, " the woman said.
