BREAKING NEWS: PAYMENT OF WAGES IS UNDER CONTROL
Government Gives Assurance on Timely Payment of Salaries
15th September 2023
In a significant move, the government has announced that it is closely monitoring the timely payment of salaries to ensure that workers receive their rightful compensation on time.
Speaking at a press conference, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, emphasized the government's commitment to protecting the rights of workers and ensuring a stable and conducive work environment.
Dr. Ngige stated that the government is aware of the challenges faced by some employers in meeting their salary obligations due to the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, he stressed that the government will not tolerate any deliberate delay or non-payment of salaries and that employers must prioritize the well-being of their employees.
The government has directed the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) to investigate any complaints of salary delays and take appropriate action against non-compliant employers.
Workers who have not received their salaries on time are advised to report their employers to the NSIWC or the Ministry of Labour and Employment for prompt intervention.
The government's proactive stance on this issue is a testament to its commitment to promoting industrial harmony and ensuring a just and equitable work environment for all.
